The ownership group of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks shocked the world on Monday when they announced they would be changing the name of the franchise. Effective immediately, the team will now be known as the Milwaukee Does.
The move is being hailed as progressive and forward-thinking, as it is tearing down gender barriers. Head coach Mike Budenholzer championed the decision in a press conference.
“It was time,” he said. “Honestly, I’m surprised we stuck with the Bucks for this long. I’m proud to be a part of an organization that isn’t just interested in winning. An organization that isn’t just looking to fatten its own pocketbook. This is a statement that says, ‘Hey, women are just as tough.’ I can’t wait to lead our little Does to the championship.”
