New Model Predicts Record Number of Sunburns This Summer

A new model published Tuesday by the Skin Research Institute predicts that this summer America will see the most sunburns on record. Researchers say the model takes into consideration that people have not been leaving their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore have had less exposure to sunlight.

“We’re all a bit pasty right now,” said Jessica Lang, a lead researcher at the Skin Research Institute and co-author of the study. “Typically, people go into the summer months with at least some exposure to sunlight. This summer will be a different story. After even an hour outside and they’ll be red as lobsters.”

Several aloe vera gel manufacturers announced they will be ramping up production in preparation for the increase, as well as potential hoarding.

Update: Several TrollWire readers have sent in photos of empty Walmart shelves that would typically stock aloe vera gel. Strangely, the shelves stocking sunscreen products are full.
