A new Gallup poll published Friday revealed that 92 percent of Americans oppose pandemics, particularly those that cause loss of life and moderate-to-severe economic damage. In the survey, participants were asked to answer “yes” or “no” to the following questions:
- Do you believe worldwide pandemics are a good thing?
- Do you support the negative economic fallout that pandemics can cause?
- Do you get a positive reaction when a friend, family member, or stranger gets sick?
- Do you get excited when hospitals are at full capacity?
All in all, the poll concluded that Americans do in fact oppose the negative impact pandemics can have on society. The majority of those who support pandemics indicated that the reason is it is a nice distraction from the 2020 presidential election.
