A 20-year-old college student at the University of Alabama was caught faking an illness on Tuesday after implicating herself through a series of Instagram posts. Aimee Shulton, who subsidizes her alcohol habit by delivering pizzas for Domino’s, published five Instagram posts throughout the day in a perceived attempt to “prove” her sickness to her professors and employer.
“Ugh!! I feel terrible. Looks like I’m staying in today 🙁 #snotty #cough #sorethroat #fever #sinuspressure,” Shulton posted at 7:23 am, with pouty duck lips and a list of hashtagged symptoms.
At 10:37 am, a second post was published from Shulton’s Instagram account: “Well, at least I’m getting some reading done #deathlyill #phlegm #stayinalive” [Photo: Cover of “The Mockingjay,” the third book in The Hunger Games trilogy]
2:04 pm: “Tryin’ something new… #katniss #feellikedeath #stillsnotty” [Photo: DVD case of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2“
6:30 pm: “I may be super sick, but it won’t keep me from my food! #stillgotmyappetite #lovemyfood #classyfoodbitch” [Photo: Several trays of light hors d’oeuvres]
Shulton’s fifth and final Instagram post was what gave her away. Posted at 11:58 pm, the college co-ed is again seen on Instagram with pouty duck lips and a string of hashtagged “symptoms.” However, a mirror in the background reveals a man doing a keg stand, six people playing the popular drinking game “flippy cup,” and an overweight couple necking in the corner of Shulton’s living room.
In response to her deception, Ms. Shulton has been fired from Domino’s and expelled from the University of Alabama with no option for re-application.
